More cabinet appointments

The latest from Iowahawk:

WASHINGTON DC – Ending weeks of speculation and rumors, President-Elect Barack Obama today named Bill Clinton to join his incoming administration as President of the United States, where he will head the federal government’s executive branch.

“I am pleased that Bill Clinton has agreed to come out of retirement to head up this crucial post in my administration,” said Obama. “He brings a lifetime of previous executive experience as Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and has worked closely with most of the members of my Cabinet.”

Once again, the master of satire brings us a real gem. And with this news, I’m so glad that things are going to change, and not be like 4 more years of a Bill Clinton adminstration after a night of raucous partying, heavy drinking, and doing lines of crack off a stripper’s chest.

Hope! Change! Aztlán!

Obama really loves my little state, it seems. It’s now reported that Raul Grijalva is a top choice for Secretary of the Interior.

Okay, while all my Arizona readers are hyperventilating, I’ll catch the rest of you up on why this is A Bad Thing. First off, Grijalva is one of the most liberal members of the House of Representatives – and the man’s got some stiff competition, so this is no small feat.  He also was a member of MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán), a radical pro-reconquista student group who believes  that the southwest (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Nevada) should return to being Hispanic states, or the region of Aztlán – ideally back under Mexican control. As such, they oppose any “melting pot” theories in which they would adjust to the culture of the United States, but instead try to impose their culture on those around them, since they believe it to be inherently superior. It is certainly valid to label them a racist group as well – their unofficial slogan, “Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada,” translates to “For the race, everything, outside the race, nothing.” The motto also bears close resemblance to the motto of the Cuban communist revolution. He is also, unsurprisingly, strongly against enforcement of illegal immigration laws.

So once y’all are breathing regularly again, think about the repercussions of having a guy like this occupy the seat of the Secretary of the Interior. Stick Napolitano in the seat next to him as Secretary of Homeland Security, and we could get some real interesting changes around these parts – I hope that it’s not as bad a change as I expect. Plus, we’ll have completed the trifecta of “Arizona politicians on the national scene that make me want to vomit” that John McCain started. I couldn’t be more proud.

Homeland “Security?”

So via Daily Pundit, according to a “top Obama advisor,” AZ Governor Janet Napolitano is currently the frontrunner for Secretary of Homeland Security.

My first response was to start humming “ding, dong, the witch is dead,” because her vacating her spot gives us a chance to have someone with an ounce of competence occupy the Governor’s office for the first time since 2002. But then it occurred to me that this woman – you know, the one that’s bankrupted the state and all but openly begged illegal workers to come to the state in droves – might not be the best choice for the position. I mean, she’s outright fought Joe Arpaio (America’s Toughest Media Whore) over the one thing he actually gets right, which is illegal immigration – opposing him at every turn. That the governor who’s arguably failed the most miserably to protect her state’s borders is being considered by our President-elect to protect the nation’s borders is only a further indication of the man’s utter incompetence.
