Return of Van Voorhees

Iowahawk is back with another brilliant piece from T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII, this time addressing the latest drama within the Conservative movement. (I hear it in my head as being read by Colin Firth, in his role as Jack Worthing.)  The money quote, in my opinion, is this:

Let us conservatives take comfort in that assurance, and in the fact that no matter what new taxes he has in mind, Mr. Obama has certain assembled a cabinet with no personal enthusiasm for paying them.

Brilliant, as always.

More cabinet appointments

The latest from Iowahawk:

WASHINGTON DC – Ending weeks of speculation and rumors, President-Elect Barack Obama today named Bill Clinton to join his incoming administration as President of the United States, where he will head the federal government’s executive branch.

“I am pleased that Bill Clinton has agreed to come out of retirement to head up this crucial post in my administration,” said Obama. “He brings a lifetime of previous executive experience as Governor of Arkansas and President of the United States, and has worked closely with most of the members of my Cabinet.”

Once again, the master of satire brings us a real gem. And with this news, I’m so glad that things are going to change, and not be like 4 more years of a Bill Clinton adminstration after a night of raucous partying, heavy drinking, and doing lines of crack off a stripper’s chest.

Further Insight

Iowahawk (recently added to the blogroll along with a few others I’d been shamefully neglecting) has a brilliant piece summarizing what significance this election has in addressing accusations of racism, and other perhaps even less pleasant accusations entitled – and if the title alone doesn’t get your mouth watering, I don’t know what will – America Can Take Pride In This Historic, Inspirational Disaster:

Although I have not always been the most outspoken advocate of President-Elect Barack Obama, today I would like to congratulate him and add my voice to the millions of fellow citizens who are celebrating his historic and frightening election victory. I don’t care whether you are a conservative or a liberal — when you saw this inspiring young African-American rise to our nation’s highest office I hope you felt the same sense of patriotic pride that I experienced, no matter how hard you were hyperventilating with deep existential dread.
